About the society

A Brief History

Tinkers Farm Opera (TFO) began in 1953, when pupils and staff of Tinkers Farm School, Northfield, performed 'Devilry and the Doons' written by a member of staff.
In 1966 the Society transferred their productions to The Crescent Theatre, with rehearsals taking place at Tinkers Farm School until 1970, when they moved to Allens Cross Community Hall, where we rehearse today. A resounding success, they went on to perform 'HMS Pinafore', then evolving into 'Tinkers Farm Operatic Society'.
Throughout our history we have been affiliated to NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association). And we are a registered charity.

Recent Times

We are proud to have earned a reputation for lively, innovative performances of quality, and have expanded our repertoire to include Offenbach and Strauss operettas, plus operas by Bizet and Verdi. We are widely recognised as having a strong chorus - and some outstanding principal singers.
Recent productions include 'Die Fledermaus', 'Carmen', 'The Grand Duke', 'The Merry Widow' and ' A Night in Venice', all of which were given original interpretations by our talented creative team.

Building for the future

Fiddler on the Roof is our chosen production for 2017, a show which has well known melodies and iconic characters. We are actively seeking singers in all voice sections to create a large chorus for this production. Anyone interested in becoming part of this exciting venture should email or phone us.
